It’s hard blow to know your body and mind has failed to integrate extreme adverse events, but that is what trauma is and why it is important because it is not the event itself.
Despite whatever happened, your body decided it was too much and couldn’t be absorbed and immediately resolved.
True, this can be awful, can feel awful, to feel betrayed by your own body and mind.
However, there is an affirmation that this happens and with somatic experience a validation and confirmation. Rather than faulting your body for it, your mind as being weaker, that instead you can acknowledge what has happened.
Only then, I firmly believe, can we ever move forward towards healing and life post-trauma or life after PTSD.
