The pain that drives one to that point, thinking that unclearly, that irrationally, is all-encompassing and I get that it is hard for most to understand. That is why they are judged. Even those who are suicidal or have suicide ideation, at a different point in life, being more mentally healthy, may hold a completely different view of that time and mindset that they had had. My brother knew the pain my father left him with and yet he did the same with my niece. Cycle repeated. Mental illness warps perceptions of reality and can make people myopic, for sure.
